A hotel room in Minnesota

Who knows why some places make for ghost stories for some people, when other people will not have an experience in the same place. A few weeks back a few ladies from Iowa and Ohio joined me on a tour. One of them had visited a hotel in Minnesota in April. Around 11 o'clock at night she was in bed and woke up to someone softly stroking the top of her hand. She was too afraid to open her eyes because she was sure that someone was standing beside her bed. After a moment the person walked around the foot of the bed to the opposite side and lay down beside her. She was still too terrified to open her eyes. Then, just as strangely as it had begun, the person seemed to disappear and she was alone in bed.

  3. Well the Hawthorne Hotel's rooms are not haunted, but their library designed like the interior of a ship's hull is. The painting of the man who had the hotel built for his business' clients is not, but his mansion is.

Frank Poor, the founder of Sylvania, had built a home on a location where the key lines intersect. Birds are compelled to fly on the same angle pass the house and Frank was compelled to work in the carriage house on his electrical experiments. Also in that carriage house he would experiment in new ways of satisfying his mistress when his wife was not looking.

You would think that after 50 years of death the mistress would be happy to be freed of the man who never left his wife as promised? You would be wrong. So was I.

I thought after she molested me in my sleep she would be happy if I helped her move on. My mistake was I insulted her lover in the process which started 15 years of the two haunting me.

Well not me per say, but all of the women I dated afterwards. I dated one who would become catatonic on the full moon, one who drank too much, and a few who might not have been emotionally stable... I live in Salem, what should I expect?

So when one would drink to many spirits, another kind would move in. If she wanted to jump out of her skin, the mistress jumped in. When she was in, I was forced to want to get out. Out of the relationships. Until the witching hour one night.

It was 3:00AM when I was awakened by a man screaming at the top of his lungs, "Not tonight, tomorrow night!". he kept yelling that phrase for a half hour.

The next night at, 3:00AM, the girl I was seeing at the time walks out onto her porch and gets hit in the head with a beer bottle from the apartment 2 doors down. Well frank and his mistress tipped their hat that time and I was able to get rid of the gruesome twosome.

I share this story and many others on my Salem ghost tour describing the history of the tunnels in the city. One of Salem's best walking tours!
